Today in Isaiah chapter 9, Isaiah continues the prophecy of Christ’s birth and the hope that is to come when He establishes His kingdom. Going on to verses 8 and 9 however, the Lord warns the people of Israel that His wrath will be upon them because of their arrogance. The people of Israel boast in themselves saying, “The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with smooth stones; The sycamores have been cut down, But we will replace them with cedars” (Isaiah 9:10). God’s wrath will be turned towards His people and He will not turn it away from them. His anger is so great that He no longer takes pity on the orphans and the widows (Isaiah 9:17). They have decided to call good evil and evil good and they will now reap that which they have sowed.

God’s people have rebelled against Him and have chosen their ways over God’s. God gives us hope though, in Isaiah chapter 9, as Isaiah reminds us of the mercy God had towards Zebulun and Naphtali, two lands that He had once shown contempt. Isaiah also prophesies of Christ’s birth in verse 6, which reads: “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Take upon you God’s yoke, because it is easy and light! Give Him your worries and trust in Him. Come to Him and His light will light your path.

Join us today as Pastor Rudy preaches on conspiracies, or the lack thereof, in Isaiah! We are told to not walk in the ways of the people of the world. The media has created a sense of fear and hopefulness among us.
The coronavirus has become the focal point of conversation and the driving force behind our decision-making on an international level.

Many say this is all a conspiracy, but the fear that has been evoked IS real. It is an irrational fear, and it’s seeping into the body of the Church. This same kind of idea plagued the people in Isaiah, as they feared their destruction at the hand of the Assyrians. Isaiah tells them though, in Isaiah 8:12-13:
“You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it. It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread.”

Trust in the Lord and turn to Him; let Him be your sanctuary so that no matter what comes, you have nothing to fear, for God is with you.
